After winning the Blancpain Sprint Cup AM Championship three weeks ago, Kessel Ferrari driver David Perel managed to seal the Overall Blancpain AM Championship by winning the final round of the Sprint Series at the Nurburgring this past weekend.
Requiring only one point to win the Overall Blancpain AM Championship, David Perel and team mate Stephen Earle put in a strong performance to take pole position and two race wins in the Sprint Cup AM category.
“That was the best Sprint Race weekend I’ve had yet. The moment I did my first lap around the track I knew I would enjoy it and could do well, there wasn’t a corner I didn’t like.”
“Our Kessel Ferrari 458 GT3 may not be the latest machinery but it held it’s own, especially in the Main Race where we were easily on the pace of the Pro-Class leaders.”
Perel began his GT career just two-and-a-half years ago: deciding he would rather be participating in the races instead of watching them on his couch at home, his incredible hard work and dedication has seen him achieve champion status – with more to come.
“Winning this title is a dream come true and one I never thought of actually happening! I want to thank Kessel Ferrari my team mate Stephen Earle and my manager Alan Macdonald. They played a huge role in me winning the Sprint and Overall Blancpain Championships. I am not done yet though as I still have my sight set on winning the Endurance Championship in two weeks time!”
The final race of the Blancpain GT Series will take place at the F1 track in Barcelona on the 1st of October.
